Clean Burgers with Sweet Potato Fries

Bunless Burgers! This post is dedicated to the one and only Burger Queen LC! If anyone in London wants to know a place to go to have an amazing burger, hit up Lauren! She looooooves a good burger :)! So this ones for you! Plus she also fed me wine and we shared clean treats after the stressful night i had whilst making these burgers...#nannydramas!

I wanted to add a bit of spice to these burgers which is why I've added a few extras (only mild spicy). However if you are not a spice fan you can just use any herbs or flavourings you like.

I tired both frying the patties and baking them in the oven (healthier alternative). Both were basically the same. I think baking it tends to make the patties slightly drier but i still enjoyed it! This recipe makes 4 large burger patties and enough salad and chips for 3-4 people.

Ingredients

PATTIES
500g of lean beef mince
1 Egg
2 Tablespoons of Paleo tomato sauce (see blog post)
2 Tablespoons of sweet chilli Sauce
A few shakes of dried herbs
A few shakes of onion and garlic granules
Pinch of cayenne pepper
Pinch of chili flakes
Pinch of salt and pepper
1 teaspoon of coconut oil (for cooking)

FRIES
2 medium sweet potatoes (peeled and cut into fries)
1 teaspoon of coconut oil (for cooking)
A pinch of salt

SALAD
A handful of baby spinach
1 large carrot (peeled)
1/2 of a red capsicum (diced)
A handful of baby tomatoes (quartered)
1/2 a cucumber (sliced)

Method

SWEET POTATO FRIES
1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees.
2. Peel the sweet potato and cut into fries.
3. Soak in ice cold water for 30 minutes to an hour (this gets rid of the starch and helps them become crunchier).
4. Drain and dry the chips (i dry each one with a paper towel) until all the water is gone.
5. Place the chips on a lined baking tray with a teaspoon of coconut oil. Season with salt.
6. Bake for 35-45 minutes.

PATTIES
1. Mix the mince, egg, sauces, and flavourings all together in a bowl.
2. Form into balls and shape into patties.
3. Depending on how you want to cook them either add coconut oil to a frying pan and heat, add patties and cook until meat is cooked to your liking. If you want to cook them in the oven, line a baking tray with baking paper, place in the oven and cook on 180 degrees until meat is cooked to your liking.

SALAD
1. Place the baby spinach in a large serving bowl.
2. Peel the carrot into the bowl, cut and dice the capsicum and add to the salad, quarter the baby tomatoes and add to salad, slice the cucumber and add to the salad.
3. Toss the salad..
4. Place the salad, burger patty and sweet potato fries on a plate and serve!

Enjoy x
